Welcome to Face to Face On Saturday June 8, our town was hit by more than 10 inches of rain in a 12 hour period. The rivers began to rise. As the storm moved away, and the blue skies emerged, the angry rivers began to roar into Columbus, and created the worst flooding in the history of Bartholomew County. The hospital began to take on water, and all the patients were evacuated. Across the street from the hospital, Jim saw something he had never seen before. The floodwaters were rapidly approaching his home. When they begin to cascade over the steps into his basement studio, he grabbed the three computer towers carrying decades of memories, including many of the Face to Face shows he has produced. His next trip down into the basement, he grabbed the family records, and that was it. The water began to fill the basement, and eventually it became like an aquarium tank. Everything was lost. Unfortunately, this scene was repeated thousands of times that Saturday afternoon.During the crisis, Jim actually went to the radio station and began to broadcast emergency information for hours, putting his personal needs aside. When I talked to him at his home on Sunday, he was dejected, but over the roar of the generator pumping out his basement, he was determined to come back. Of course, Face to Face is on hold, as well as Jim’s life. It’s “dead in the water” if you will. But God has always had a hand on this ministry, and this morning, he revealed to me that we need to buy the equipment to get Face back to the thousands of listeners who depend on it each week. So I would like to raise $5000 dollars or whatever God sends, to buy the monitors, microphones, or other audio equipment to get us back up and running. When we get the equipment, Jim can go back to producing our program. I need your help. This month, would you give a special gift that will go directly to an equipment fund to get us back to where we need to be? All funds that are earmarked this way will go to buying equipment. There will be no administrative fees, or even a salary for Jim. He wouldn’t take one, anyway. I’ve tried to pay him for sixteen years. Our lives were changed Saturday afternoon, and we all have “Storm Stories” that would keep the Weather Channel hopping for weeks. But this is an opportunity to supply one of the finest Christian men I know the chance to continue his passion, producing Face to Face. And in the course of this, you have the chance to turn tragedy into triumph. I’ll even send you a list of what we buy, if you request it. To donate, click here. May God bless you for your generosity. Thank you. Sincerely in Christ, Tom Rust Director Save the Date! We're putting together our annual Face to Face Golf Classic. This year, our 10th!, is already shaping up to be an outstanding event. The 2008 NCAA basketball championship went pretty much as expected. Kansas won it all and there were the usual teams at the top. Stephen Curry of Davidson gave fans hope for the underdogs in 2009. Great players are found in unusual places sometimes. It’s hard to believe that the number one pick in the NBA draft back in 1987 came out of Navy. That’s Navy, as in the United States Naval Academy, not exactly a bastion of great hoops stars. But who would argue that David Robinson went on to become one of the greatest centers of all time?...
